Help Your Child Create Photo Books For the School Year
Creating photo books with your child can be a fun way to commemorate the school year that has just passed, while giving you a chance to spend quality time together. You can include pictures of their favorite moments throughout the year, such as field trips or special school events. If your child participates in sports, a photo book is a great way to provide them with a recap of the season’s highlights. You can also share these books with their classmates and teammates if they are interested in having their own personally created book.
Let your child play a big part in the photo taking and selection process. If they are in middle or high school, they can be trusted with their own digital camera. This will give you some photos from a different perspective than the usual yearbook or team picture. Be sure to save any programs, tournament flyers, or certificates your child may receive during the school year or sports season. You can either take a digital photo of these paper items or have them scanned into an image file.
If your child is interested in getting some personal notes from their classmates, these can usually be added right onto the picture on most online photo sharing sites. Since most teenagers are computer savvy these days and already participate in social networking sites like Facebook and MySpace, it may be easier to just have them add their comments to your online photo album. Most photo sharing sites allow you to turn on public comments, so it is as easy as uploading your pictures and emailing a link to your child’s friends.
Because you may not want to upload pictures of a minor for the entire Internet to see, you can usually set your photo album to private so only people on your friends list can see it. Be sure to let your friends and family know if this is the case because they will probably have to sign up for an account before they have access. They will not be required to pay for a premium account, but it is still a good idea to warn them that there may be additional steps to the process if they wish to help you create your child’s photo book.
After you have received everyone’s comments, it is a simple matter of deciding which photos are the best and organizing these into an album. Even if you wish to create your own photo book offline with traditional paper and glue, it may be easier to use an online photo site to design the layout. Then you can simply print off the pages and give yourself a blueprint to follow when you create the book. Most online photo sharing sites also offer a number of printing and binding options, which makes it convenient to order your entire finished photo book right from the site you used to create it. You can easily order extra copies for grandparents and other family members who wish to have their own copy.
