HostGator Review: Affordable Web Hosting
When I was looking for a new website host, I looked at a lot of them only to that they were either expensive or too good to be true. Many of them also wanted a setup fee which costs five times more than what they charge for a monthly fee. That was until I found HostGator. The experience with HostGator has been amazing, and I love them enough to write a HostGator review.
As with every other web host, HostGator offers Shared, Dedicated, and Reseller hosting, even a hosting plan for Businesses. Hatching, Baby, and Business plans include unlimited disk space, bandwidth, databases, sub-domains, and email accounts. While it is possible for the Business and Baby packages to host unlimited domain, the Hatchling plan can only support one domain.
HostGator includes the popular cPanel software for management of your website, including Fantastico that installs well known website software for your instant gallery, forum, blogging, content management, and guestbook needs, as well as 50 other scripts for your website with one-click.
Along with your community, you can also setup web pages to tell what your group is about with free website templates. With a library of over 4,500 templates, you can have your site running in no time with little or no programming knowledge.
If you would rather install software the traditional way, it can be done with File Transfer Protocol, or FTP for short. HostGator also supports FrontPage for design savvy webmasters. To manage databases, cPanel has PHPMyAdmin that lets users manage databases via a user interface. A wide range of other programming languages are also supported: Perl, SSH, PHP 5, Ruby on Rails, CGI, and Python.
Businesses may benefit from HostGator’s Business hosting. The plan includes a free Toll-Free phone number, Chillsoft ASP for programmers, Private SSL, Anonymous FTP, and Dedicated IP. For smaller businesses who just want to set-up a shopping cart right away will be glad to know that HostGator also has E-Commerce solutions on all hosting plans.
Every hosting plan offers many web statistic tracking software for finding where your website visitors are coming from and where they go, and how your bandwidth is being used. You can also view raw error logs for troubleshooting your website when a problem arises.
Do not have an existing domain? No problem! You can purchase one from HostGator when you sign up. If you have an existing domain, it could be difficult to move from another web host, but it is not as hard as it sounds. You also have the option to use your current domain when signing up, and it can be configured on your own (for the experienced) or by customer service.
